Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

If you do not see your question below please don't hesitate to call our technical team at 713.882.4482

What is Concrete raising?
A process used to raise concrete by drilling holes through the surface of the concrete and pumping, under hydraulic pressure, a flowable cement and clay mixture underneath.

What can be raised?
Basically any concrete can be lifted. We raise sidewalks, driveways, pool decks, garage floors, patios, parking lot grounds, city streets, and much more!

How do I get an estimate?
You can request an estimate by emailing us at or by calling our local Houston office at (713) 331-0521.

Is there a charge for an estimate?
No. All estimates, advice and suggestions are free.

Do I need to be home / at the job site for the estimate or the actual work?
No, not for the estimate, however you will have to discuss the area/s of concern with our technical team first (713.882.4482) so that the estimator can leave an accurate quote for you. You also are not required to be home / at the job site during the work, however, in this case the work will have to be prepaid by cash or check, or in the case of credit card payments, you will need to be available by phone.

**NOTE: In order to clean the surface when we are done we need access to an exterior water spigot.

Is there a warranty?
Yes- If the concrete we work on sinks more than 1/2” within 1 year of performing the work, Southern Concrete Raising will come out and rework the settled areas (though this is very rare and typically is a sign of another problem; i.e. water leak). Full warranty details are printed on the front of the estimating proposal.

Do you accept credit cards?
Yes- We accept Visa, Master Card, American express, Discover, and Diners Club.

How do I accept a proposal and schedule my work?
If you have reviewed your estimate and would like to have the work done, you can either call 713.882.4482 to schedule it, or you can sign the estimating proposal on the front left bottom portion labeled “Customer Acceptance” and forward the signed copy to us via mail or fax at (713) 660-9930 and one of our team members will be in touch with you shortly to schedule it.

Do I need to send a deposit?
No. Payment is not required until after the work is completed.

When can the concrete raising be done?
We do work year-round, but will delay a job due to severe weather conditions such as heavy rain.

How long does the work take to be done?
That depends on the size of the job. However, the majority of residential work can be completed in just a few hours, thus on the day scheduled.

How big are the holes?
The holes that are drilled are approximately 1 5/8 ” in diameter (about the size of a golf ball).

What do you do with the holes when you are done?

The holes are patched with the same concrete fill.

Will I notice the holes?
The drill holes are initially noticeable only because we are putting fresh concrete patch on aged concrete. In time, however, the holes will begin to blend with the existing concrete.

What type of material is used?
We use a Portland clay, cement, and dense-dirt top-soil mixture.

What will happen to the existing cracks in my slab(s)?
Unfortunately, the cracks will still exist. In addition, for a small additional charge Southern Concrete Raising will fill and patch concrete cracks.

How long will the area that is raised be out of service?
Our work areas can be walked on immediately after we complete the job. However, driveways and garages must be unused for 12 hours due to the weight of vehicles.
